Format Policy Registries (FPR) outline the capabilities and the actions that digital preservation programs undertake on files in their holdings. FPRs are common in archival repositories, but they are less prevalent in data repositories.

In this session, we will cover why the FPR and its accompanying strategy were created, the journey we took to get to the FPR launch, and future developments we would like to implement. We also welcome feedback and questions from those in attendance so that we may make the FPR a resource that can be used by the wider research data community.

The format for the session will be a presentation followed by a discussion and question period. This session will not be recorded; presentation slides will be available to attendees.

Presenter

Amanda Tomé is the Digital Preservation Coordinator with the Digital Research Alliance of Canada, where she is responsible for data retention and digital preservation activities associated with the Federated Research Data Repository (FRDR).

Learning objectives:

The goal of the event is to provide attendees with a chance to gain an understanding of the Format Policy Registry and to understand the community’s needs so the FPR can grow.

Organizer: [NoE] Curation Events Working Group (CEWG): Curation Clinic
