This intermediate-level workshop will demonstrate how to create thematic maps u sing QGIS\, a free and open-source Geographic Information System (GIS) for analyzing\, modifying\, and visualizing spatial data. Additionally\, part icipants will learn how to perform queries on spatial data and edit the at tribute table.

Additionally\, if you are new to QGIS\, we recommend you review our workshop on Reference M apping with QGIS (https://ubc-library-rc.github.io/ gis-reference-mapping/) as well.
This workshop is taught by a gr aduate student in Geography with expertise in GIS and cartographic methods .

QGIS is a free and open source desktop geographic information system (GIS) . It can be installed on Windows\, MacOS\, and Linux using the download in structions here: https://www.qgis.org/en/site/forusers /download.html. This workshop will use the latest Long Term Release ve rsion. Please make sure you have this installed on your computer.
